About the photographer

Eddie Gomez is a San Francisco Bay Area dive professional and underwater photographer. First exposed to SCUBA diving in his late twenties, the magic of the deep blue ocean quickly became a lifelong passion and source of endless inspiration.

Becoming quickly drawn to photography as a visual medium and art form, underwater photography was a natural next step as a way to combine both passions.

A chance conversation years ago with a friend having her photograph taken underwater sparked a revelation. Enchanted with the idea and challenge, a decade of ocean photography evolved to capturing the beauty and magic of the human form fused with surrealism that only the aquatic realm can provide.

When not behind the camera, Eddie will be found working alongside Bamboo Reef Diving Centers in San Francisco, helping to introduce and certify future SCUBA divers to the wonders of the oceanic world.

Reflecting his natural tendencies as a maker, his hobbies include metalwork, restoring old homes, working on (and riding) motorcycles.

An artistic approach to underwater photography, in an environment free from gravity’s rules. Blending fine art, fashion, and nature into a surreal experience all its own.

Humans share a primal connection to that feeling of being in water; it’s wired into us from our time spent in the womb. Being underwater has always felt like home to me.

As a diver, exploring the underwater world connects me to something bigger than myself. I am humbled by its wisdom and mystery; its beauty and the darkness of the abyss. It is as vast and deep as the human soul.

I serve as a humble gatherer of light of the underwater realm. I seek to connect the mystery and beauty of water with that of our own humanity.

Thank you for your interest in my art.
